I know that when I'm talking with a CNP grad about someone they need to meet and I say, "They're also a CNPer," it makes for almost immediate acceptance. ----------------------------------------------------- Interested People ----------------------------------------------------- Those interested in future classes are: Merry Beavers Anne Palmer Eric Douglas Norma Sliwinski Kelly Elton Barb Waite-Shenk Connie Wright Dustin Alexander Aaaron Avery Rick Ruckman Matt Skotynsky Jim Walling Laura Naughton Eric Borgeson Mike McMahon Glen Maxwell Brian Houdashelt Don Yerks Who do you know that wants to become better versed in networking so that their return on their investment of time and money is better than they ever expected. --------------------------------------------------------------------- CNP Guru --------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you to all of you who took the time to help Debby be creative with the name on her license plate. The red, white and blue plates can now be seen on the little yellow Mini Cooper, as it tools around town. Thanks to Victoria Meyer for that suggestion. Second choice came from Sue Huges, CNPIS4U. While Debbie Papay should get the prize for the total number of suggestions, her WHPCRKR (whipcracker) aptly decribed Debby. Debby was afraid of the wrong type of attention it might garner! ------------------------------------------------------------------- Another CNP Guru ------------------------------------------------------------------- We been saying this for awhile now, but we want to be sure all of you hear this. Tom Fleming, who the CNP instructors feel is our CNP guru, will be coming to town for the WEN conference on October 22nd. The all day conference is being held at the new student union on the BGSU campus. Registration is being accepted right now! Call Linda Everhardt Kardux at 419-534-3007 to receive a registation form. There are opportunities to exhibit or to even be a sponsor. But remember, this is your chance to hear Tom Fleming in action. He will be presenting two different outbreak sessions that day. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Using CNP Methods ---------------------------------------------------------------- Two CNP grads have teamed with a third business person. Their plan is to meet for lunch once per month, and on a rotating basis, one of them will invite a fourth person, who could be helpful to the other two. Looking at Module 4, I would say this is certainly both "inviting" and "source seeking." Not bad. What parts of CNP are you using to not only help youself, but also others? ---------------------------------------------------------------- New Book ---------------------------------------------------------------- Debby is currently reading "Celebration of Fools" an inside look at the rise and fall of JC Penney. While this company may not be so successful today, it was built on the premise of relationships. Penney would choose young men, who were smart and energetic to open stores. Not only did they work long hours, but Penney impressed upon each man that they needed to be VERY involved in the community. As a result of his then very novel approach to merchandizing, the stores and the managers of these stores became very successful. With all they were involved, and knowing the hours they put in at the stores, one has to wonder how their families felt about rarely seeing them. CNP encourages a balanced effort with community service. What time do you have or can you set aside? Knowing your limits, volunteer or join in the places that you can give and gain the most. ---------------------------------------------------------------- We Are Invited --------------------------------------------------------------- BNI and WEN are joining forces to begin evening networking events, once per month. The first one is September 14th from 5 - 7:30 PM. This event is limited to members of the two groups and their invited guests. That's what we are! So add this to your calendar. It will be strictly casual networking, with no program or exhibitor tables. It is being held at the Marriott on Dussel, in Maumee. The first evening the food and beverages are being underwritten by the Mariott. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Megan Sings ----------------------------------------------------------------- *Megan Featzka, Seymour & Associates, Mass Mutual*, is excited about her new CD entitled "Doing a New Thing." You can purchase it through Megan at mefeatzka@finscs.com for $15. Megan has been busy this summer with many singing engagements, and will soon be back on the road with her acting career. --------------------------------------------------------------- Business Plans are Her Fun --------------------------------------------------------------- Recently after 24 hours of training and testing, *Linda Fayerweather, Changing Lanes*, received a license to provide One Page Business Plans (tm) for small business owners. She is currently working on the next step, which is a certification. -------------------------------------------------------------- Toastmaster's Past Pres -------------------------------------------------------------- *Nick Nigro, Davis College*, has just completed a one year term as President of the Westgate Toastmasters, and during that year he completed his Advanced Toastmaster Bronze award level. He also was a first place winner in both the Club and Area Speech contest, as well as gaining a third place finish at the District level. He used all that he learned from Module 8 to help him be as effective as possible in the contests. CNP really helps in so many ways! -------------------------------------------------------------- Mousseau is Fast -------------------------------------------------------------- Husband/assistant of Realtor, *Pat Mousseau, Re/Max Central,* reports that she has been Hot! He continues to say that she has been closing properties at the rate of one every 3 days. ------------------------------------------------------------- WOW! ------------------------------------------------------------- *Michael Temple, Temple Development Company*, was asked by a successful international venture capitalist to devleop a public relations web site to communicate with the community, assist with fundraising and to generate "buzz" in the community about a 60 million dollar multi-faceted sports dome project being developed in Northwest Ohio. The web site is currently in development and will be available for the public later this year. ------------------------------------------------------------- Yum Yum Newsletter ------------------------------------------------------------- *Rebecca Booth, Imagine That!*, was awarded with an national APEX award for the work she doeson the Nestle FlavorFacts Newsletter. FlavorFacts is sent to over 20,000 chefs across the U.S. The publication is filled with tips and tricks of the trade and has a compelling graphic design which makes it easy for these very busy people to read it in short spirts. Out of the 5,000 entries, 11 citations were honored. Nestle's FlavorFacts was one of the 11. Way to go, Rebecca! ------------------------------------------------------------- Reaching Into the Community ------------------------------------------------------------- *Mike Liskai, Wildwood Atletic Club*, was asked and has accepted a temporary vacancy on the Holland Springfield Chamber of Commerce Board. "Caveman," Mike knows this will be a great learning experience and an opportunity to exercise the "stages of an effective referral system". ------------------------------------------------------------- Helping Everyone to Win ------------------------------------------------------------- Recently a Michigan municipality wanted to hire both the firm, *Gillet Associates, Inc,* that *Gary Thompson* represents and a construction company to help build a community services center. Even though the municipality didn't want to, regulations meant they needed to interview and talk with other competitors. The construction company was ready to just walk away from the job. Gary, found a way to streamline the process for everyone involved and in the end won the job for his team, including the construction company. Gary says that CNP techniques really helped him to look for a solution that would help everyone win in this situation. ------------------------------------------------------------- Bigger than Life ------------------------------------------------------------- *Mary Nyitray* keeps giving us reasons to look at her building. It seems that she is bigger than life! Check out the picture on the side of *Optical Arts* building at 2934 W. Central. Also, Mary was featured in the most recent issue of Spotlight on Women, talking about Proshades, which is a brand new product that is only available at Optical Arts. ------------------------------------------------------------ Technology ------------------------------------------------------------ For those of us who are technology challenged, we'll identify with this horntooting. *Deb Hornstein, The Danberry Company*, reports that there IS something she has done that she is really proud of. For this first time in the three years that she has had a wireless mouse, she FINALLY learned how to open it so she could replace the batteries - ALL BY HERSELF! Additonally in the hum-drum area (ha), she was re-appointment to the committe to distribute CHIPS grants in Northwood. That's federal assistance the city has applied for that will allow for emergency home repairs, remodeling and new home purchases for low to moderate income residents in the City of Northwood. That's all for this month! See you at the graduation mixer on September 1st. Bring your friends, too. debby
